UK Company Makes Vinyl Records From Cremation Ashes

A UK company called And Vinyly is mixing the ashes of dead people into records to create a macabre memento of a person’s life.

They put the cremated body parts into raw vinyl that is used to make the discs.
Basic packages cost £2,000 for up to 30 discs - far less than the cremation or traditional burial.

And Vinyly was founded by British music producer Jason Leach in 2009 but has seen a surge in interest recently.
The process involves sprinkling the ash onto a piece of vinyl, known as a puck or biscuit. The vinyl is then pressed by plates to create grooves and press the ash into the record.

The hard part is supposedly choosing a record, with some opting for 12 minutes of laughter or songs with puns in the title.

For those who prefer a ‘minimal’ approach, And Vinyly can press the ashes into the vinyl with no song.

Is This The Worst DJ Set Of All Time?

Is This The Worst DJ Set Of All Time?
The video of an unfortunately untalented DJ in a competition at Sweden's Dreamhack festival shows a man dying on his feet before thousands of bored music-lovers, as he plays music on a laptop with his arms limply in the air. He then stalks the stage like a hammered uncle who's pissed himself and doesn't think anyone has noticed.
Check it out below. You may find yourself biting your fist in embarassment, before swallowing your entire arm.

Danny Daze - Silicon [Video]

Danny Daze has been DJing since he was 14 years old and even though he clocked in the practice at that age by playing at weddings, he spent all the money he earned on vinyl and furthered his knowledge and understanding of the real scene.
He draws his influences from the sounds of Miami bass and booty music, Electro and Techno and with releases and remixes via big name labels.
Danny Daze's musical output is evolving and maturing through every track he creates. His new single comes via Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic imprint, this is called "Silicon". Video directed and animated by Joeri Woudstra.

'The Devil's Work' Dark Underground Techno EP [Review]

This dark, thunderous underground Techno EP features 4 epic tracks from Techno producer Diction and 4 remixes by Mr. Bizz, Darren C. and Rick Dyno.

Relentlessly hard and cerebral Techno, perfect for big dirty underground sound systems.

"Caster" With a nice driving beat, and off beat sound effects, this Techno tune is a proper all rounder. Would sound great in a Techno mix and not out of place in a Minimal set. The use of samples gives this track a haunted/distant feel. Massive remix by Mr. Bizz, who is known globally for their Techno production.

"Chapter 14" A pushing Techno beat that rises into a monumental Industrial hook. Once the tune reaches peak it wouldnt be out of place in a Tech-House set. The Techno beat is developed by Psytrance sounding rhythms that give this tune a real edge. Remix by Darren C. guaranteed to make you move to that groove.
"Bankrupt" A good start of the set tune falling on the Minimal side of Techno. The straight Techno beat is compensated by nice long builds, ideal for a rising mix. The use of low pass filters in the breakdown give a nice contrast to the rest of the tune. Also included is dark bangin' remix by Rick Dyno.
"Devil's Night" Dark pounding grooves guaranteed to make you move your feet. Both original and remix by DurtysoxXx and Dirty Lookin' Mobile Disco projects that driving Techno you expect when listening to these bangers.

"Right Here Right Now" - New Single By JOOP, Sherano and MC Stretch‏

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW is the new annihilating EDM stormer coming from the Dutchman JOOP whom we all know from his biggest classic 'The Future'. For this release on AIRBORNE ARTISTS AGENCY he teamed up with one of the hottest producers of the moment: SHERANO. On vocal duties we find no one less than MC STRETCH. Inspired by the spirit of the Tomorrowland mainstage he hosts every year, he delivers the positive vibes. The official music video was recorded during the world's largest dance music convention: The Amsterdam Dance Event. The video features the who is who of the dance music industry. Well-known names like Hardwell as well as some of the most influential industry people step up in front of the Airborne cam.
The song ambitions to unite people make them forget any animosity and have them celebrate life together. The production is airtight and features lead synths so massive, it’s impossible to not take note.

Andrea Roma & Daniele Petronelli - Punto

Human Garden is a brand new UK Techno label founded in 2009 by Andrea Roma. And I'm obsessed with his latest club hit in collab. with Petronelli entitled "Punto".
This track features sexy female Spanish vocals and an incredible beat that will make you sweat on the dance floor all night long!

Irregular Synth - People Help The People

Irregular Synth is an Italian DJ, remixer and producer really appreciated on the club scene. He started his DJing career when he was very young in Naples, the city where many famous House and Techno DJ's come from. Today, thanks to his ability at the mixer and to his musical background, Irregular Synth is really appreciated by the clubbers, because he always focuses his attention on the dancefloor...

Robyn Fuses Together Techno & Pop Music In New Collaboration

The first signing to Robyn’s Konichiwa Records was announced earlier this month, along with a lot of fangirling from Robyn herself... and her name is Zhala.
Things are moving a lot faster now that she’s with Robyn though, and recently she released her debut EP ‘Prophet’.
That EP contains the title track, which is available as a Zhala song, and as a featuring Robyn version.
Some days ago the pair of them performed that version at the Swedish Grammy Award ceremony, enjoy it!

Danny Daze feat. Translucent - Beatdown

“Beatdown” is definitely the best title for this massive new Techno track from Danny Daze, and I mean that in the best way possible. The track comes off of Daze’s 'Silicon' EP, on Jimmy Edgar’s Ultramajic imprint, and it takes us back to the rave days of yore. If you don’t feel beat down by the end of this track, go have your ears checked.

#NotHuman Robot Replaces Resident DJs In Nightclub

Austin, Texas club “Fame” is set to make history with the first ever robot DJ “employed” by a nightclub, replacing the usual resident DJs and doing a “better job”.
Texas based independent programmers and robotics technology experts (not music experts) created the robotic phenomenon (named “Project POTPAL”), spokesperson Linda Howard stated “Our mission is to create the absolute perfect experience for the nightclub management, while still maintaining the simple “Push-Button” experience patrons are used to in major clubs. This is the perfect DJ Paris Hilton experience, except better.”
I don't have too much information about this scary #NotHuman project that will left thousands of DJs out of work in the future . . . but sadly it is now a reality in progress! Watch the video below.

"Amazing" Sergey Silvertone. Remixes from Luke Hassan and Thorsten Last. Release date 10th March.

2014 is set to be a huge year for fresh London based Deep House and Future Disco label Chromoza Recordings. After the success of Thorsten Last's "Behind The Sky" feat. Zoe Belucci in December, Team Chromoza have been passionately pulling together their release schedule which will see the label well into the summer.
First to be launched into the forefront of the underground scene is Russian Disco king Sergey Silvertone, with his beautifully textured and vibrant deep disco creation "Amazing".
Sergey is still reeling from a stellar 2013 which saw him propelled into the limelight through his remix work with Lakosta & Rokkit, Barbary and Anturage alongside guest mixes on cult House radio shows worldwide.
"Amazing" will be released on a two week Traxsource exclusive on 10th March 2014 and includes two remixes. One from scene newcomer Luke Hassan whose bang on trend G House style has twisted the track into a Garage led number fit for the dirtiest and latest of dancefloors.
The second remix comes from one of Chromoza's favourites Thorsten Last, whose Berlin tech inspired rework offers an unashamedly euphoric yet still edgy alternative; perfect for the international main room at midnight hour.

The British Deep House duo Disclosure played a remixed version of the Lorde's song “Royals”, at yesterday’s Brit Awards ceremony.
While Lorde belted out her hit in an elegant sequined dress, the brothers who make up Disclosure — Guy and Howard Lawrence — added their vocals and pounded out Deep House beats on a drum pad.
In the second half of Disclosure's set, also in the video, they performed “White Noise" with AlunaGeorge, a single off their 2013 album 'Settle'.

Antonio Giacca Interview 2014

1) Tell us a bit more about yourself

I was born and raised in Rome, Italy and I started going to clubs and DJing at 14, as my dad used to run one of most successful in the city so I used to hang out there since a very early age! After living all around the world, I am now based in Los Angeles, USA.

2 ) How would you specify your genre?

Progressive House, with a passion for funky/sexy basslines and emotional breakdowns.

3) What do you like about being a DJ?

I love sharing my biggest passion (music!) with all the like minded people coming to my performances and to give people emotions and happiness through out the tracks I produce in the studio...

4) What do you dislike about the current EDM scene?

Too many tracks sounding all the same, I feel like creativity is being lost as the scene is getting bigger and there’s more money at stake. It’s starting to look a lot like pop.

5) Name three producers you’d like to be compared to.

Hmmm hard to tell… Axwell, Nicky Romero, maybe Eric Prydz because I do what I love instead of trying to do what everybody else is doing?

6) In one sentence describe your new single “Deviate”

Epic and appealing to the masses without being “cheesy” or like everything else...

7) Did you participate in the music video for "Deviate"? Tell us more about it…

The video for Deviate was written and shot in my motherland, Italy. I was initially supposed to be in it as I wanted that association with something shot back home, but at that time I was too busy with touring and we got too close to the deadline. But I’m still very happy with the result, I wanted a music video with a real story, rather than just me fist pumping in a club like the usual cliche EDM video...

8) Where in the world can we hear you play in the coming months?

Just came back from playing the Groove Cruise in USA and Mexico, I am next off to a festival in California, then a mini tour in Europe with dates in Switzerland and England and of course Miami during the Winter Music Conference!

CuteDJ Review - A Professional DJ Software for Mac and Windows

Are you looking for a light, professional DJ application to rock informal house parties and upscale wine parties alike? CuteDJ - DJ software may be exactly what you are looking for.
CuteDJ is a professional level DJ software which has many features not seen in other softwares including video mixing and Karaoke support. Outside of these special features, CuteDJ features the standard EQ, mixer, effects and other options found on most professional DJ softwares.

Complete with features such as fully automated auto-mix, one-click beat sync, a mixnow button for quick cross-fade and play, all packaged in a very easy-to-use interface; you have the perfect DJ solution to take on any gig in any environment. Less screen clutter and just the right feature set to make your job as easy as possible.

Powerful Mixing Engine

The control panel features two players, much like a twin CD mixing deck. Each player has its own pitch control, play, search and cue buttons.

Users can adjust the speed of each track to match the next using the sliding pitch controls. Pitch bend buttons on each player allow you to quickly bring tracks into line in the mix.
Cue points can be set within a track if you chose not to cue it from the beginning. If you have two sets of L-R outputs on your sound card, you can assign one set as your monitors and use headphones to cue. You can also do this if you have two soundcards installed.
Playlist, File Browser and Music Management
The general file browser proved to be well constructed and most of all…functional. Finding tracks or folders is simple and swift, which is obviously a blessing since a DJ can never waste precious seconds while in a mix. On the left side of the file browser you’ll find the section dedicated to folder browsing; it’s important to notice is the presence of the "Itunes" folder, emphasizing the fact that CuteDJ is indeed able to integrate and use tracks from your created Itunes playlists. Among the usual browser options you will find the "logs" and "loaded song" folders which will provide you with a history of played tracks. Through the "Drive" tab you will also be able to select the location where to find tracks or folders from -ex: other hard-disks or cds - while the "Add Favorites" button will allow you to easily add new folders and tracks among our favorites.

Paris Metro Station Could Turn Into A Nightclub

Paris might soon give tourists a reason to look underground instead up and around at the city of lights. Paris mayoral candidate Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet announced earlier this month a plan to turn the city's 11 deserted metro stations into public spaces. The politician worked with architect Manal Rachdi and urban planner Nicolas Laisné to create renderings of proposed renovations. The revitalized stations could become the home of nightclubs!

Eminem Goes Back On His Word, Now He Loves Techno!

"I feel very sorry to the Techno community that I ridiculed their music and for my blatant hate at the time. I guess I am just a late bloomer."
For some out there, it might be hard to acknowledge its success, but Techno clearly is the new dominating underground music genre in the world!
It trumps the popularity of Hip Hop and Rock which are on the demise.
Eminem once was one of Techno’s true enemies. In one of his famous videos he states: “Nobody listens to Techno.” He might have felt that at the time (and maybe it was true for the US). But times have changed.. And now EVERYBODY LISTENS TO TECHNO, even Eminem!
In a recent interview he said:
“Five years ago I went clubbing. Amazing experience... ever since I actually started to dig Techno. After attending underground festivals in Europe, I became really hooked. And now I’m trying to get some hooks on some of these tracks I really love."
It's 2014 and if you are an Eminem fan who still believe that nobody listens to Techno, then watch the video below, and get ready to change your mind.
