There`ll Never Be Another Studio 54

If I were Doctor Who I would use the travel machine to go directly to Studio 54. I think there`ll never be another nightclub like it.  Today things have changed a lot, there are too much laws and rules that limit individual freedom. Perhaps,  in those times, wild parties were the fashion, and all the celebrities wanted to go there. That`s why it became a popular place that made history internationally.

Studio 54 opened its doors on April 26, 1977, it was located at 254 West 54th Street in Manhattan, New York City. At that time, not everyone could enter into the club, Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager became widely known for hand-selecting guests. Only famous artists, celebrities and common beautiful people were allowed to enter. The best thing of this place was of course D.I.S.C.O. music. In Studio 54 people weren`t just dancing, there was also a group of them participating in orgies, drinking and doing drugs.

The club closed its door for the first time in 1980, when the owners of the club were arrested for skimming $2.5 million. The nightclub closed with one final party called "The End of Modern-day Gomorrah", on February 4, 1980. Diana Ross, Ryan O'Neal, Mariel Hemingway, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Richard Gere, Gia Carangi, Jack Nicholson, Reggie Jackson, and Sylvester Stallone were among the guests that night. In 2010, Studio 54 is now called The Roundabout Theatre Company, where you can enjoy musicals and some other special events.

Check out the video below, I have uploaded a performance by Amanda Lear at Studio 54, where she sings "Fashion Pack", a song that perfectly describes the nightclub scene. I love that crowd, I`m sure my parents were there dancing lol.

Kylie Minogue "Get Outta My Way" Video Teaser

The greatest duo Alex and Liane were chosen by Kylie Minogue to direct her new video "Get Outta My Way". I haven´t seen the complete version yet, but for now it looks like one of her old videos. It looks very similar to her 2003 video "Slow", which was directed by Baillie Walsh. However, it doesn´t look bad at all, I specially like that luminous dancefloor!

House Music Will Never Die

Historians who study music, believe that the era of Disco ended in 1979, when The Disco Demolition Night event took place in a big stadium of Chicago. Do you want to know, what exactly happened that night? Well let´s take a look back at The Disco Demolition Night.

Today, those 10,000 protestors are ugly, old and fat lol. Fortunately, Disco music still exists with another name HOUSE MUSIC, which is a style of electronic dance music, that originated in Chicago. The rhythm of House music became a phenomenon in the mid-80s and is still active in our present days.

On every August 10th, Chicagoans celebrate The Day Of House Music. It was possible thanks to the Mayor Richard M. Daly who proclaimed the cultutal festivity in 2005. House music will never die, there are more than six subgenres and people from all over the world dance House music because it´s fun and so fuckin' amazing too.

Kraftwerk, The Fathers of Electronic Music

Four Germans from Düsseldorf, Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, Wolfgang Flür and Karl Bartos were the first men on earth to play electronic music during the 70s. Originally, Kraftwerk was a music duo composed of Schneider and Hütter, they met at the Düsseldorf Conservatory in the late 60s, while they were studying together, they  became interested in experimental music, which was an innovative thing in those years.

In November of 1974, Kraftwerk had become a band, and they released their first album entitled "Autobahn". The album`s sound was characterized by the use of violins, flutes, guitars and synthesizers. It reached #25 on the U.S. Billboard Charts and #11 on the European Charts. After the commercial success of their debut album, Kraftwerk started to invest their money in new musical instruments and modern technology, and I think that`s the main reason for their success.

Kraftwerk`s lyrics usually talk about urban life, computers, technology, post-war events, and most of them are very minimal. Believe it or not, the band is still active, if you have the opportunity to assist to one of their concerts, you will be amazed because all the band members are dressed with robot suits. Kraftwerk are definetly, The Fathers of Electronic Music, thanks to them many other artists have been influenced by their music. Perhaps, electronic music couldn´t exist if Kraftwerk were not formed. Finally, let me ask you one question, What`s your favourite Kraftwerk`s song? Mine is "Radioactivity". What`s yours? . . .

Melbourne Shuffle Documentary

Melbourne Shuffle is a dance style, that originated in the late 80s in the underground rave scene, specifically in Melbourne, Australia. This dance style is now called Electro Shuffle, because it has become a worldwide phenomenon. After watching this documentary, I´m sure you will like to try some basic moves, such as The Running Man or T-Step. It may look difficult but with a litttle practice you can be the next John Travolta of the 21st century.

My First Time In A Club

I`m not pretending to turn this blog into a personal diary. However, I would like to share a little story of my life with you. Well, my first time in a club happened six years ago when I was an 18-year-old high school student. Everything started, when I was on the bus on my way to my house, suddenly, I heard on the radio that DJ Benny Benassi was coming to my city. As you all know I live in South America, and DJ concerts are not so common here. Anyway, that day I was decided to go for the first time to the most popular club of my city.

I waited almost one week, for that special night, I told my friends about the concert, but they were not fans of electronic music at that moment, so I ended up going alone. Years later, I realized they were not my real friends because we never had  much things in common. Ok let´s go back to the story, then
on Thursday night I put on my orange sunglasses and I took a taxi. When I arrived at the club, I was cold and nervous, remember it was my first time in a club, and I was completely alone!

The moment I entered the club was magical and unexplainable. It was one of those moments you can´t never forget. I felt very excited to see my idol Benny Benassi playing in front of me. In that club many things happened.  At the beginning nobody was dancing, until a mysterious lollipop girl began to make her first dance moves on the dancefloor. Since that minute, all the clubbers were reunited, partying and celebrating under the neon lights. It was definitely a crazy night, I can´t give you more details lol.  Please feel free to share with us your story in the comments section, thanks.
