Radio listeners in the UK will not be forced to go digital for several years after ministers warned too many people are still using analogue devices.
The radio industry was pushing for a date to be set for all national stations to be available only on digital radios by 2020.
But UK culture minister Ed Vaizey warned that only a third of radio listening is via digital devices and no move would be made to switch off the FM services until the figure rises to 50 per cent.
