BitTorrent's New Plan To Pay Musicians For Downloaded Music Without Charging Users

BitTorrent Inc., the parent company of the popular BitTorrent client uTorrent, starts a new series of experiments today in which it will help artists monetize the BitTorrent ecosystem. The company has partnered with the legendary DJ Shadow who agreed to give away exclusive content to BitTorrent users. The free content bundle includes software from advertisers, allowing the artist and BitTorrent to generate revenue from users who opt to install it.

The idea is simple. BitTorrent Inc. helps artists to promote a bundle of free content to their 150 million users. This bundle includes a piece of sponsored software such as a media player or anti-virus package that can be installed as an option. When a user installs the free software, both the artist and BitTorrent get a cut of the proceeds.

With this model, BitTorrent Inc. hopes to add a lucrative revenue stream for artists while giving users more access to free content. DJ Shadow has become the first artist to accept this marketing strategy which is part of the new digital world.

British TV Channel To Host Rave Party For Six Hours

Put your hands in the air: in an unprecedented move, Channel 4 is to host an ad-free, live six-hour House party to mark the birth of rave. The show will feature sets from international DJs, including Grandmaster Flash and Annie Mac, in an attempt to "turn the TV into the ultimate DJ booth". As well as no adverts, House Party, will have no commentary and no interruptions. Just like a real club, reveller will be able to make requests for tunes – although this will be done through social media rather than shouting across a DJ booth.

The event, which will air from midnight on the evening of 24 August and run through to 6am, marks the 20th anniversary of 1992's infamous free rave at Castlemorton near Malvern in Worcestershire, which was attended by 40,000 people.

This project started off as a bootleg released by Phil Kieran back in 2007. Back then he was just putting out a tune he really wanted out there, cutting through the red tape. But as occasionally happens this one was too good to have such a limited release.

Detroit Techno Legend Kevin Saunderson Top Five Classic Hits

Kevin Saunderson didn't just invent Detroit Techno as part of the legendary Belleville Three with Juan Atkins and Derrick May. He also perfected the Techno hit, catapulting the seminal D-Town sound across the Atlantic and onto the dancefloors of Europe, where rave culture was about to explode in the late '80s.

Saunderson's Inner City outfit, featuring vocalist Paris Grey, was the biggest thing in dance music during its heyday. Classic singles like "Big Fun" and "Good Life" would hit the top spot on the U.S. dance chart while also becoming top-ten hits in the UK.

But the most remarkable thing about Saunderson and his fellow pioneers is that there was no precedent for what they were doing at the time. No formula for these massive hits that sparked a dancefloor frenzy around the world. If you are a Techno lover, then you'll love to listen Kevin Saunderson's top five classic hits below. . .

                                               1) Kreem - Triangle Of Love

2) Inner City - Big Fun

3) Inner City - Good Life

4) E-Dancer - Heavenly

5) Reese Project - The Colour of Love

Fashion Guide For Men ► Skinny Jeans Could Cause Testicular Problems

Professional medics have warned that skinny jeans are causing incidents of twisted testicles, bladder weakness and even urinary tract infections. Tight trousers can constrict the spermatic cord leading to testicular torsion which cuts off the blood supply. This situation requires urgent surgery to prevent the testicle from turning gangrenous. A study of 2,000 men revealed one in ten have had unpleasant side-effects from their tight trousers, the survey also showed that one in seven men regularly wear skinny jeans. In conclusion, skinny jeans are not fashionable anymore.

Gesaffelstein Has Become The New Prince Of French Techno

The new prince of French Techno, Gesaffelstein has black eyes, pale face and a good taste for music. Mike Levy, aka Gesaffelstein, has become one of the most important DJs and producers in France. Ibiza is not his favorite place, but he believes it's important to be there, at least in the eyes of Americans and Englishmen. In the July issue of  DJ magazine, Gesaffelstein & Brodinski appear in the main cover and are being classified as "French New Wave". A new wave that breaks with the French Touch 2.0, aesthetics.

Gesaffelstein
"Techno music is a revolutionary genre, its possibilities are endless. You can introduce other influences like Funk, Electro, Brazilian music ... This scene has brought music to its original roots. Music returns to the basic technology, the intransigence of underground resistance."

Today Gesaffelstein plays at least two to three times a week at clubs in Europe and worldwide. Experiencing a rate which he said he did not suffer. When he is in Paris, he locks himself in his studio, a small room that was painted black in order to create an atmosphere that leads to creativity.

The Roland TR-808 Gets Its Own Documentary

Planet Rock and Other Tales of the 808, an upcoming documentary about one of dance music’s most prized tools. Beginning with the seminal sound of Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force, the film is set to celebrate all the goodness you can get out of a Roland TR-808.

One of the project’s producers is legendary studio kingpin Arthur Baker, whose credits include work with New Order, Al Green and Rocker’s Revenge. However, it was his role in creating Planet Rock back in the early ‘80s with his offsider John Robie, Bambaataa and the Kraftwerk team of Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider that makes him an authority on this topic.

I'm loving the rhythmic teaser video below, but unfortunately the movie isn’t coming until 2013. For more information click here.
