Do Dogs Like Music?

Against the conventional wisdom that music is a uniquely human phenomenon, ongoing research shows that animals actually do have the capacity for music. But rather than liking Classical or Techno, Snowdon, an animal psychologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has discovered that animals march to the beat of a different drum altogether. They enjoy what he calls "species-specific music": tunes specially designed using the pitches, tones and tempos that are familiar to their particular species.

Humans like music that falls within our acoustic and vocal range, uses tones we understand, and progresses at a tempo similar to that of our heartbeats. A tune pitched too high or low sounds grating or ungraspable, and music too fast or slow is unrecognizable as such. To animals, human music falls into that grating, unrecognizable category. With vocal ranges and heart rates very different from ours, they simply aren't wired to enjoy songs that are tailored for our ears.

Hotels Must Pay Music Royalties In Europe

Different hotel federations  have described as outrageous a recent law from the European Court of Justice that hotels should pay royalties for the broadcast of music on TVs and radios in hotel bedrooms. Personally, I believe it would generate extra costs on the hotel guests, and its implementation is a very bad idea.

EU law provides for remuneration for those who produce recordings for commercial purposes, but allows for exemptions for “private use”. The court considered whether such broadcasts in hotel bedrooms were private or public use.The case will now go back to the High Court for a decision based on the interpretation provided by the European Court of Justice.

Do you agree with this new law? YES / NO

I ♥ Techno

Loyal readers of Electro WOW, since two days ago, I have fallen in love with Techno music. I just realized it is as cool as House music, and from now on I will support the genre on my blog. It is not easy to find good uplifting Techno songs these days, because it's sadly that most of them are influenced by the boring minimal sound. However, I will try to do my best by researching good tracks and remixes. Keep in mind, that there is always a rainbow after the storm.

So, what is Techno music?
Techno is generally repetitive instrumental music produced for use in a continuous DJ set. The central rhythmic component is most often in common time (4/4), where time is marked with a bass drum on each quarter note pulse, a backbeat played by snare or clap on the second and fourth pulses of the bar, and an open hi-hat sounding every second eighth note.

Warning! This is a great example of Techno music↓

International DJ Day Celebrated Around The World

On every March the 9th, people from all over the world are supposed to celebrate the International DJ Day. For 10 years this day has been celebrated as a tribute for those who work in the music industry as DJs.  They are so popular in our time, and thanks to them we can party and dance inexhaustibly! The initiative was undertaken in 2002 by the foundations 'World DJ Fund' and 'Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy', and has remained active for a decade.

The term DJ refers to a musician who creates, selects and plays music in front of an audience. The tracks he mixes in a DJ set, are remixes or extended versions of original records. There are different types of DJs.

Radio DJ: The one who works in a radio station, and broadcast new tracks and remixes.
Club DJ: The one who plays in bars, events or discotheques.
Bedroom DJ: The one who plays in his own bedroom and broadcast his mixes via video or podcast.

Roxy Music - Love Is The Drug (Todd Terje Disco Dub)

Todd Terje has of course been impressing more with his own productions of late, yet armed with the masters for the seminal "Love Is The Drug" he proves that his golden touch for remixing has not lost one iota of its enduring shine. Wisely choosing not to drastically change what is an almost perfect  song, Terje elects to add plenty of echo and delay, deftly updating the track for contemporary ears without sacrificing any of Brian & co's sax infused charm.

The Joy of Disco [Documentary]

Documentary about how a much-derided music actually changed the world. Between 1969 and 1979 Disco soundtracked gay liberation, foregrounded female desire in the age of feminism and led to the birth of modern club culture as we know it today, before taking the world by storm. Latin & Black communities were also part of this important music genre, which is still alive today as Nu Disco.

Creativity has no limits, a new form of art is emerging in this world! and that's called "shaking the ass." An unknown female artist uses her voluptuous ass in a small concert to shake it to the beat of a Beethoven's symphony. Various Recent Music Genres Enter The Latest Edition of The Chambers Dictionary

Dubstep and Grime are among a number of recent musical genres that have entered the latest edition of the Chambers Dictionary. Grime, which has had a large following in the higher reaches of the charts, specially in the United Kingdom, is described as "a style of popular music combining elements of dancehall and hip-hop". Dubstep, the genre of choice for artists including Nero and Skrillex, is labelled as a "type of electronic popular dance music developed from drum and bass".

Boyband has also entered the latest edition, despite being a largely popular term used for several decades. The noun is defined as a "pop group, targeting mainly the teenage market, composed of young males chosen because they look good and can dance and sometimes even sing". Beatboxing and online Cloud services have also made it into the Chambers Dictionary update.

Warning! If you're allergic to Dubstep I suggest you not watch the video below.
