Canada's Largest Electronic Music Festival Sent Ravers To The Hospital

More than two dozen people ended up in hospital, two in critical condition during a weekend-long rave in Edmonton, billed as Canada’s largest electronic music festival. Alberta Health Services says most of those patients were dealing with drug or alcohol-related issues. Many of the overdoses involved the drug ecstasy. Many were impressed with the security at the event, which was expected to attract more than 10,000 people over two nights.

Police and city officials expressed concern how a spike in sexual assault complaints and drug overdoses during raves puts pressure on emergency services. But rave promoters claimed they are being unfairly targeted and events like the Elements Music Festival put Edmonton on the map, artistically and musically by bringing a world-class event to the city.
